About Me

I'm Amy Hilferty, from Madrid, Nebraska.  I just graduated from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in May with my Associates of Applied Science Degree in Veterinary Technology with an emphasis in Equine Care.  I recently moved to Kentucky to work at an Equine Vet Referal and Surgical Hospital. We work on a wide variety of horses, but mostly Saddlebreds.  I enjoy working out here and have learned tons!

In May of 2005 I went to Equitoch school in Loveland, Colorado. After 10 days of class I recieved my 150 hour certification.  Class was held at the Lazy J Bar S Ranch.

In class we learned the anatomy of the horse.  Luckily I went over most of this during my college anatomy class!  We went over every bone and muscle in the body, and every detail about them. We also learned many massage strokes, how to use them, and where to use them.  We spent many hours of 'hands on' time and worked many breeds and disciplines of horses at the barns.  We had the privilage of hearing many guest speakers during class.  We heard about saddle fitting, shoeing/hoof care, saddle making, bussiness, and chiropratic work.  I had an awsome time and learned lots of great information!
